In Brief

Our ask

as Sussex faces the defining challenges of our time, climate change and nature loss, we urge all mayoral candidates to place nature and climate at the heart of prosperity, working with communities, businesses and councils to become a place of resilience and innovation where people and nature thrive together

This means

the new Mayor and Combined Authority must work to create a sustainable and prosperous Sussex, where economic transformation goes hand-in-hand with thriving communities and a healthier natural environment – ensuring future generations inherit a more resilient place to live.

Leadership

engaging residents, businesses and organisations in shaping the transition to a healthier, fairer, and sustainable future, drawing on the academic and business communities, and ensuring no one is left behind.

Building a fair, resilient economy

that generates good jobs, championing innovation, and provides education and training for skills in sustainable technologies that support our economic transition to the green economy.

Clean power

moving from fossil fuels to clean power by supporting growth of renewable energy and by becoming energy-efficient, making buildings, new and old, both warm and affordable.

Planning and transport

creating planning frameworks that builds homes and supports industry, enables people to travel for work and pleasure, whilst protecting our natural landscapes into the future.

Nature recovery

restoring nature, enhancing biodiversity, stopping the pollution of our rivers and seas and safeguarding our natural environment as a key asset for all who live in and visit Sussex.

Health, Nature and Climate

recognising the relationship between our personal health, the natural environment and the need for climate adaptation.
